I’ve had a 25 year battle of trying to moderate foods that don’t serve me well. The mental gymnastics I went through to either try and not have a certain food or to have a little bit and then try not binge, was exhausting. To hope I could have that little bit and push myself away from it. Or maybe I would fail and I would binge on the whole thing.
It’s clear I’m not good at moderating, so that is why I abstain.
There’s reasons why some people that have issues with alcohol stop drinking all together. You may try and moderate for a while because you’re afraid to go without it forever (hi, that was me) but at some point it’s like, ok I can’t do this anymore. I need to not have that poison part of my life. And that’s ok.
For me, Carnivore is what finally gave me that freedom. The mental freedom I feel is indescribable. Food doesn’t have a hold over me anymore and I no longer obsessively think about it.
You could have cookies and cake next to me and I would have zero desire to have it. You’d think it would be the opposite, though. That since I never have it I’d be feinding for it. But that’s not the case. It’s just not a part of my life anymore.
I just want to offer you some hope that it doesn’t have to be this way. The answer, for me, was to lose the carbs and sugar in order to gain freedom and happiness.
Some of the benefits I have had from eating this way are: healed acne, off antidepressants, increased energy, improved digestion (no gas or bloating) and I'm down 45 lbs
